Get your charging routine sorted

A repeatable charging routine saves time. Use the charging information for your model, battery and software version rather than copying another owner’s settings.

A home charging installation or changes to fixed wiring must be undertaken by an appropriately licensed electrician.

1Match the charger to the vehicle

Check the supported charging types and connectors in your handbook. DC charging availability and speed vary, particularly between plug-in hybrids. Use only compatible equipment.

2Choose one schedule to start with

Check whether the vehicle, wall charger or energy plan controls timing. Conflicting schedules can prevent charging. Test with one scheduling system first; check the charger instructions before changing its settings.

3Check the battery guidance

Use BYD’s model-specific battery and charge guidance. Do not apply a universal daily percentage target to every battery. Some handbooks include periodic charging instructions.

4Verify that charging has started

After connecting, check the charge indicator and expected completion time. For a scheduled charge, confirm that it is waiting for the intended time and verify one full scheduled cycle.

5Keep a fallback

Know how to start an immediate charge using your vehicle and charger instructions. If charging fails, note the exact error message and contact the relevant service provider; do not dismantle charging equipment.

Check the official instructions

This checklist was prepared with reference to BYD Australia’s official manual directory and service information. Model-specific limits and operating sequences are intentionally left to your handbook. These general checklists do not verify feature availability for every vehicle.
